New Year’s Eve is…
…a perfect occasion for evaluating your life’s direction. Goal setting has long been promoted in business contexts as good practice and it should become the same in spiritual growth. Consider what might be the effect in 2016 if you wrote goals for the unseen realm of your life? Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways. Do not turn to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil. ---Proverbs 4:26-27 Take these steps to decide how you will invest: |
YOUR TIMEMake Your Goal : More Time with God!
We are changed by the Spirit as we spend time in God’s PRESENCE. (2 Corinthians 3:18). Consider these thoughts on spending MORE TIME in the PRESENCE of God in the New Year: i. PRAYER is our moment the Holiest place & the nearest we may approach God in this life. Prayer is a portal into the unseen realm. Prayer must be mastered by His people.* What are your goals regarding entry into the Holy Place? How much time did you you spend there last year? How much will you spend in the New Year? (I highly recommend you consider owning a tool: “The Meaning of Prayer” by Harry Emerson Fosdick.) ii. How much time will you spend in God’s Word (Scripture) daily or weekly with God this year? God’s Word is nutrition for our souls. Dine daily and feast occasionally. iii. How much time will you spend listening for God’s voice daily or weekly this year? Yes, God speaks. You believe the Devil puts thoughts in your mind, don’t you? Why could not God do the same? If you haven’t heard from Him, have you been listening? iv. Consistency. If spiritual growth is something you desire, but you have trouble sticking with it, then consider using the Daily Blueprint in D60:Transformation through Discipleship to help you conquer this roadblock. YOUR THOUGHTS Make Your Goal : Focus My Thinking
We are transformed by the renewing of our thoughts. (Romans 12:2) Our thoughts make us who we are. Set goals for your thoughts so you can experience a powerful spiritual renewal in the New Year. Know God’s Thoughts v. Ears- How might you LISTEN for GOD’s thoughts in 2016? vi. Eyes- What’s you plan for gaining GOD’s thoughts through STUDY? Focus Your Thoughts vii. STILLNESS allows us to consider a matter fully. How might you practice the discipline of stillness in order to have time of reflection and personal spiritual examination? Give Forethought viii. FORETHOUGHT is giving full and circumspect thought to the path you are on. We are enticed into busy-ness in things in which we have no business! Are you involved in the things which are most important to God? Do some need to go, some need to be added, or one need particular focus? How will you know unless you ask Him and give Him opportunity to make it clear this year? How will you allow time for FORETHOUGHT? What is your goal in this regard? |
YOUR CALENDARMake Your Goal: Follow God's Schedule
God gave Israel a calendar by which they should mark many sacred moments. It is also a chronology of the march of time. Some feasts, like Passover, mark moment’s fulfilled while others, like the Feast of Trumpets, portend events to come. Consider a goal of learning the lessons these ‘School Masters’ teach us by participating in one or more of them this year so that your calendar is set for optimum spiritual growth. “I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Let us who are mature, have this attitude”-- Philippians 3:14-15 |
